Cairo, the dirtiest place you have ever seen. They literally do not have garbage containers. It is the capital of Egypt and the largest city in Africa and the Middle East. Officially it was founded in 969 AD, however it is actually 7000 years old.
The Citadel is one of the world's greatest monuments to medieval warfare. It started out in 810  AD as a pavilion for its view of Cairo. It was later fortified to protect it against attacks by the Crusaders. The walls were 30 ft. high and 10 ft. thick. In 1218 Sultan al-Kamil built a palace there for his residence. Other alterations were made in 1805 to replace decaying interior buildlings.
We also walk through a bazaar - lots of shopping opportunities - "come in and take a look".
